June in the USA means sunny picnics, backyard brunches, and quick getaways. And for Indian families, that’s more than a chance to explore; this is a reason to bring the taste of home wherever you go. That’s where the humble, hearty Mooli Paratha fits right in. Light enough to pack, flavorful enough to satisfy, and easy enough to whip up before hitting the road, this stuffed flatbread is summer’s best-kept food secret. It’s the kind of homemade snack that travels well in foil, pairs brilliantly with chutneys or curd, and always reminds you of Mom’s kitchen. Using Hathi Brand 100% Whole Wheat Chakki Atta, the texture stays soft, the layers flake just right, and the flavor feels just right! Whether a road trip lunch or a quick evening bite on the gazebo, this recipe brings comfort.
- Prep time: 20 minutes
- Cook time: 15 minutes
- Total time: 35 minutes
- Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 1 cup Hathi Brand 100% Whole Wheat Chakki Atta.
- 1 medium white radish (mooli), peeled and grated.
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped.
- 1 tsp ginger, grated.
- 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped.
- ½ tsp ajwain (carom seeds).
- Salt to taste.
- Water, as needed (for dough).
- Ghee or oil for cooking.
Method
- This prevents the filling from becoming soggy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine grated mooli with green chilies, ginger, coriander, ajwain, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, knead Hathi Brand Whole Wheat Chakki Atta with a bit of water and a pinch of salt to form a soft, smooth dough. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small disc.
- Place a spoonful of the mooli mixture in the center of the disc, gather the edges to seal it, and gently flatten it into a ball.
- Carefully roll out the stuffed ball into a medium-sized paratha, dusting with dry atta if needed.
- Heat a tawa and cook the paratha on both sides until golden brown, brushing lightly with ghee or oil.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and filling. Serve hot.
Pair this paratha with mint chutney or fresh curd, and sip on some chilled buttermilk or lemonade for the perfect summer combo: homemade, hearty, and full of love!
